Pakistan 2026 prices
Value depends on condition: working with healthy battery and original charger commands the most; worn-but-working less; major issues / for-parts the least. WhatsApp 0312-4690005 for an exact quote.
It sells now at only a small fraction of its original 2017 new price.
When 2017 Air still makes sense
Very tight budget. Light user (web, Office, basic video). Older user who doesn't want change.
Backup/secondary Mac for travel where you don't worry about damage.
Specific software needs MagSafe 2 + USB-A (rare).
Teaching/learning Mac basics for someone new to macOS.
Limitations to accept
macOS support: last supported = Big Sur (11.x). Already 4 years out of date. Security patches likely ended.
Performance: feels slow by 2026 standards. Web browsing has visible lag with many tabs.
Non-Retina display: looks dated compared to any 2018+ MacBook.
Battery degradation: most 2017 Airs need a new battery.
What to verify before buying
Battery cycle count + health: System Information → Power → Cycle Count. Health %. Anything under 80% = expect replacement.
Storage test: Disk Utility → First Aid. Pass.
Display test: no dead pixels, no backlight bleeding.
Activation Lock: confirmed off.
All ports functional: charge, USB-A both work, Thunderbolt 2 if you have a device to test.
Better 2026 alternatives at similar prices
MacBook Air 2018 A1932: Retina display, Thunderbolt 3, MUCH better.
MacBook Air 2019 A1932 refresh: same as above + True Tone display.
For a bit more: a used MacBook Air M1. Apple Silicon, full macOS support, 90%+ better performance.
When to absolutely NOT buy A1466 in 2026
If you need it for work/study lasting 2+ years.
If you can stretch your budget to an M1 Air.
If you need modern macOS features (Sequoia, Tahoe).
If you'll do anything beyond very light work.
