1. Check for battery swelling FIRST
Place the closed Mac on a flat surface. Does it rock? Press the trackpad — does it feel stiff/clicky when it didn't before? A swelling battery underneath the trackpad creates pressure that triggers phantom touches.
This is the most common cause of 'jumping cursor' in Pakistan. Stop using the Mac, WhatsApp us, battery swap PKR 12,000–22,000 same-day.
2. Wet or dirty trackpad surface
Wipe with a slightly damp microfibre cloth. Skin oils on the trackpad can cause phantom touches. Make sure your fingers are clean and dry. Don't use trackpad immediately after washing hands.
3. Bluetooth interference (rare)
If you use a Bluetooth mouse + Magic Trackpad, they can compete for input. Disconnect one. Also try a different USB-C charger — some cheap chargers introduce electrical noise that affects trackpad sensors.
4. Trackpad hardware failure
If the cursor jumps even when you're not touching the trackpad, the Force Touch trackpad's flex cable may be damaged. Replacement PKR 12,000–18,000 with calibrated haptic engine.
