What we mean by 'cosmetic grade'
All AppleForce used MacBooks pass our 47-point mechanical bench test. Battery health, all ports, screen quality, every key, speakers, mics, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, SSD speed · identical standard across every grade.
Cosmetic grade only describes EXTERNAL APPEARANCE. The internal Mac is mechanically the same. A Grade B Mac performs identically to a Grade A Mac. The difference is what you see when you put it on a desk.
Why grade matters: lower cosmetic grade = lower PKR price. Same performance, lower spend. Right choice if you don't care about minor scuffs and want maximum value.
Grade A · near-mint
Visual: indistinguishable from new at arm's length. No visible scratches, dents, or wear marks on lid, base, or trackpad. Screen shows no pressure marks or pixel issues. Keyboard caps show no shine.
Original-box-and-charger: typically included when available.
Cycle count: under 250 typical. Battery health 92-100%.
PKR premium: typically PKR 20-40k above Grade A- for the same model + config.
Right for: corporate buyers, gift recipients, business-presentation use, anyone who notices small details.
Grade A- · very light wear
Visual: looks excellent in daily use. Very light keyboard shine on most-used keys (space, A, S, E, etc.). May have one or two tiny base scuffs from desktop placement. No screen pressure marks, no significant marks anywhere visible.
Cycle count: 200-500 typical. Battery health 85-95%.
PKR pricing: this is our 'default' grade · most listings show A- pricing.
Right for: 70% of buyers. The PKR-per-condition sweet spot. You won't notice the difference in real use vs Grade A.
Grade B · honest used condition
Visual: visible scratches or scuffs. May have shallow dents (NOT impact damage · just scuffs). Keyboard shine on multiple keys. Trackpad may show wear pattern. Screen is still perfect (no pressure marks).
Cycle count: 400-700 typical. Battery health 82-90%.
PKR pricing: typically PKR 30-50k below Grade A- on Airs, PKR 50-80k below on Pros.
Right for: maximum-value buyers. Students. Anyone where the laptop will live on a desk or in a bag and visible wear doesn't matter.
Grade C · functional but heavily worn
Visual: significant cosmetic damage. Multiple deep scratches, dents (cosmetic only · no structural damage), heavy keyboard wear, possible enclosure discoloration.
Mechanical: all functions verified. No screen issues, no port issues, no battery issues. The Mac works perfectly · it just looks rough.
Cycle count: typically 600+ (close to battery replacement window). Battery health 75-85%.
PKR pricing: PKR 60-90k below Grade A- typical. Cheapest entry to the model.
Right for: very budget-constrained students, secondary / backup machines, parts donors with usable shells.
Note: we rarely list Grade C units · most are absorbed by trade-in flow.
How to decide which grade to buy
Performance: identical across grades. Don't pay Grade A premium for performance · pay for visual appearance only.
Lifetime use: even Grade B Macs run 5+ more years reliably. Cosmetic grade does not affect longevity.
Resale: Grade A Macs resell for more, but the upgrade premium roughly equals the resale bonus over 3 years. Net wash.
Confidence: if you're new to used Macs and uncertain, start with Grade A-. The default grade. Best PKR-per-condition.
Maximum savings: if you want the cheapest entry to a model and don't care about marks, Grade B is dramatically better value than Grade A.
