Why monsoon is uniquely risky for MacBooks
Lahore/Karachi monsoon humidity hits 80%+ for weeks. Air saturated with moisture — water condenses inside electronics that cycle between cool indoors and humid outdoors.
Common monsoon damage: condensation in screens (rainbow effect), corroded charging ports, sticky keyboards from humidity-amplified spills.
Daily monsoon habits to adopt
Keep MacBook in a moisture-resistant sleeve when not in use. Silica gel packets in the sleeve. Replace silica every 2–3 weeks.
Don't open Mac immediately when entering from rain — let it acclimatise 15 minutes. Cold Mac + warm humid room = condensation inside.
Wipe down with dry microfiber every evening. Pay extra attention to ports and keyboard surface.
Splash and spill response (monsoon-specific)
Rain splash from open window: immediately power off, disconnect cables, lid-down on dry towel. WhatsApp AppleForce within 30 minutes.
Standing water (basement flood, leaky roof): immediately remove battery if possible (older models). Modern Macs: power off + bring in same day to limit corrosion spread.
Direct rain exposure (caught in storm): same as above + don't try to boot 'to check.' Each boot attempt with water present causes new short circuits.
Storage during monsoon when traveling
Don't leave MacBook in car during heavy rain. Boot/trunk floods are common in Lahore/Karachi during heavy monsoons.
If traveling out of city: silica-gel pack in laptop bag. Plastic bag inside laptop bag for waterproof second layer.
Mould inside MacBook — when to worry
If Mac was stored unused during monsoon with no power-on: mould risk after 6+ weeks. Visible symptoms: musty smell when warm, fan blowing weird scent, white powder at vents.
Workshop service: full disassembly + alcohol clean + thermal paste replacement. PKR 8,000–15,000. Don't ignore — mould produces conductive residue that causes random failures later.
AppleForce monsoon-season service tips
We see 3x normal water-damage volume in July–September. Bring Mac in even for 'small splash' incidents — early intervention prevents PKR 50k+ later repairs.
Free 5-minute monsoon damage inspection at workshop, no appointment needed.
