- Cycle count + battery health: Apple menu → About This Mac → System Report → Power. Look for "Cycle Count" and "Maximum Capacity."
- Year purchased: Apple menu → About This Mac (top of screen). The model year is listed.
- Cosmetic state: just look at your Mac. Lid + base + keyboard + screen. Honest assessment beats inflated.
- Working: does it boot to macOS desktop? Yes = working. Black screen, doesn't power on, stuck on Apple logo = not working.
